Dr. Nieto is recognized as America’s Top Podiatrist by the Consumer Research Council of America, and as the Top Podiatrist in Bakersfield, CA by Bakersfield Best Award. Dr. Nieto moved to Bakersfield in 2017 and offers patients the most effective treatment possible to get them back on their feet and walking without pain. He has effectively treated patients at 7 different hospitals in Kern County, with over 1000 surgeries, and healed hundreds of wounds, saving numerous limbs as the medical director of a Wound Center. Working closely with his patients, he will develop a personalized treatment plan one step at a time, exploring all options to avoid surgery and, if surgical treatment is required, explaining all the conditions and expectations. With his extensive experience in all aspects of foot and ankle care, and his cutting-edge treatments, he will have you back on your feet in no time.

Dr. Ruben Nieto, DPM

Ruben Nieto, DPM, is a dedicated podiatrist and wound care specialist with a passion for healing his patients and providing personalized care. He has proudly served the Bakersfield, California, community for over five years.

Dr. Nieto earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from California State University Long Beach in Long Beach, California. He received his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine at Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in North Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Nieto went on to complete a podiatric medicine and surgery residency program with reconstructive foot and ankle surgery (PMSR RRA) in Chicago, Illinois, at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, University of Illinois Chicago Hospital, and John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County. During this time, he served as chief resident.

Originally from El Salvador, Dr. Nieto immigrated to the United States during the late 1990s and worked hard to achieve his dreams. Today, he brings this same work ethic and commitment to every patient that he treats at Kern Podiatry. He is incredibly passionate about educating individuals on lifestyle changes to improve their health, while also helping them to become partners in their healing process.

Dr. Nieto is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, board qualified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, and holds a California Podiatric Medical License. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, the California Podiatric Medical Association, and the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine.

Further professional achievements include a DEA license certification; California radiology/X-rays and fluoroscopy license certification; American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery arthroscopy course certification; Wright Medical total ankle replacement course certification; American Board of Podiatric Medicine examination certifications part l, Il, and Ill; Institute for Health Improvement course certification; and ACLS/BLS certification.

In his free time, Dr. Nieto enjoys spending quality time and traveling with his family. He is an avid movie lover, basketball fanatic, and proud Lakers fan. He also volunteers both within the local community and abroad.
